Bio

Svetlana Kochergina – Russian-French poet and painter, born in 1984 in Vladivostok, currently lives and works in Paris. She graduated from Sorbonne University in Fine Arts and attended the workshops of Académie de la Grande Chaumière.

Her figurative artworks address the notion of Myth, its unveiling or expansion in the metamodern society and combine romantic and skeptical, dreamlike and dramatic, gloomy and optimistic moods. These poetic pictures have layers of revelation: political, historical, social, ethical or philosophical.

In 2021 as a result of my deep fascination with psychoanalysis and therapy, I become increasingly interested in the complex human psyche with its traumas, faiths, dreams, memories, illusions, its own myths that it builds about the world. In the new artwork series on the background of classical landscapes and portraits you can see small abstract elements invisible to the eye in “reality”, but inhabiting our unconscious. They are memories, emotions, energies, pieces of our yesterday version, our deceiving expectations, our moments of insite, sadness or happiness, our blockages and losses. These elements constitute our beliefs and symbolize the vital joy of our nature and the fabrics of our constantly changing realities.
